basic service arrangements, described below.
I also am committed to provide the highest levels of customer service and
support. For this reason, I guarantee a return telephone call within 4 hours, by
me personally or a backup with comparable technical skills. For the fine print,

In general I am not a reseller, all recommendations
are free of any self-interests. Any hardware or
software products I purchase, I resell without mark-up as a convenience to my clients. Of course,
I install hardware (including cabling) or software as needed, and make repairs. Note that I am required to collect Sales Tax on all products I sell to
Massachusetts clients.
As a business, I invest in tools and training, as needed, to support my clients.
I may also utilize sub-contractors when necessary.
In most cases I will provide, upon request, a 'not-to-exceed' estimate.
- Ad Hoc Support

Often someone encounters a critical systems problem that they are unable to
resolve themselves and turns to me. I am happy to help provide
a quick, expert resolution to the immediate crisis. Sometimes the
computer is just slow and they want it checked out.
Altogether too often, Data Recovery is a commonly
needed service. This happens when you have reinstalled Windows and
find your backups aren't any good, or maybe you haven't made backups
in recent memory. In more extreme cases the disk isn't usable. Yes,
there is a good chance of recovery, but don't delay, especially if
you continue to use the disk (a definite no-no). I don't regard this
as one of my core services, but it comes up often enough that I've
added this material to my web site, so check my link.
- IT Consultation

This is on-site professional consulting to help you get the
full benefits of Information Technology in
your business or activity. I will learn about your business and its
real needs. Together we will explore areas of concern such as
security, backup and recovery, performance, reliability, ease of use,
etc. I will also consider if new applications, technology or
tools would provide business value at a reasonable cost.
My core competency is in bridging the chasm between business
people and technologists. The corresponding job description in a
large enterprise is "Program Manager", and I've 15 years
of accomplishment in that role. An expert Program Manager is
there to make the IT project successful. Project (not
Program) Managers deliver a project on time and budget, but Program
Managers see to it that what is delivered and installed is what the
business people want and need. That can be very different and hugely
important.
Unless you know specifically what changes you need, the IT Consulting service
usually results in a report
describing the current state and use of Information Technology with
proposed plans for appropriate next steps. If you
agree, we proceed to implement the recommendations.
For new prospective clients, the first hour of consultation is completely
free and without obligation. Clients have found this time to be highly
worthwhile.
- Contract Support

A client looking to assure priority support and minimal
disruption to his or her business, may enter into a
retainer contract with me. Usually, this includes routine on-going
installation of patches and similar maintenance work.

I offer a special service for a fixed price of $150. This usually
includes all of the following, as needed: scan and remove malware (viruses)
and adware; check security settings; retrieve and install all critical
operating system patches and service packs;; defragment disk and vacuum out dust. This is
available for Windows 98, ME, NT, 2000 or XP systems and is carried out in my
office usually taking a few days.
